[Introduction]

Comet type fiber filler is a novel combination of fiber filter materials. It combines the advantages of granular filter materials and fiber shaped filter materials. It can not only give play to the advantages of large specific surface area of fiber materials, but also has the characteristics of simple backwashing of granular filter materials. It can rapidly improve the water quality. It is a new type of efficient filter materials with asymmetric parting structure. The most remarkable feature of this filter material is that it is made of high-quality polyester fiber and ABS resin, spinning and injection molding ball, with the shape of a granular tow, like a comet dragging a long "tail", like a comet, so it is named comet type fiber filter material. It is characterized by loose fiber tow at one end, with fiber diameter of 20-40 μ m. Also known as "comet tail", the fiber tow at the other end is fixed in the solid "comet nucleus" with high specific gravity. The density of the comet nucleus is 1.1. During filtering, the "comet nucleus" with high density plays a role in compacting the fiber tow. At the same time, due to the small size of the "comet nucleus", it has little effect on the uniformity of the porosity distribution of the filtering section, thus improving the sewage interception capacity of the filter bed. It has the advantages of high filtering accuracy, large sewage interception, high backwash cleanliness and low water consumption, forming a new filtering material. Comet type fiber filter material is suitable for filtering operation of removing suspended solids in water.

The porosity of the filter layer composed of comet fiber filter material is distributed in gradient along the height of the filter layer. The lower filter material is highly compacted with relatively few porosity, which is easy to ensure the filtering accuracy. The porosity of the entire filter bed gradually increases from bottom to top. The distribution characteristics of the porosity of this filter layer will help to achieve high-speed and high-precision filtering. The filtering accuracy is greater than 5 microns, and the recommended filtering speed is 20-100 m/h, The residual sludge deposition rate is less than 1-2%, and the sewage holding capacity of the filter bed reaches 21.7-41.5 kg/m3. The backwashing of comet fiber filter material adopts air-water backwashing. During backwashing, due to the specific gravity difference between the comet nucleus and the comet tail fiber tow, the comet tail fiber disperses and swings with the backwash water flow, generating strong drag force. The mutual collision between filter materials also intensifies the mechanical force on the fiber in the water. The irregular shape of the filter material makes the filter material rotate under the action of the backwash water flow, The result is that the solid particles attached to the fiber surface are easy to fall off, thus improving the cleanliness of the filter material. The size of comet fiber filter material is determined to be 3.5 through experimental study × zero point five × (35 ~ 40) (Comet nucleus diameter × Tow diameter × Comet tail length).

With the continuous development and utilization of new materials in water treatment technology, comet fiber filter material has broad application prospects in filtration technology and water treatment.
